Re: Very few boats for sale

Hi Steve, I read the Forum somewhat intermittently, and have only just seen your post. You would be very welcome to sail an IC at Draycote. I am struggling to identify you from just your first name, but you mention you know me from Moths, so 'hi'! I have incidentally recently sold my foiling Moth to...

Re: Steinhudermeer Worlds 1990 - who were 2nd and 3rd?

Jim,

I have been in the class since 1987 and have never thrown away any newsletters or reports from the days when these were always on paper, so if you cannot access anything any time send me an e-mail and I can probably scan a copy of a report to you.

Cheers Colin

Re: if only

Hi Hayden, I am sorry to see as a past, very successful member of the world Canoe sailing fraternity, you cannot make it to the Worlds, though I quite understand the reasons. I was sad to see that Canoe sailing seems to be in the doldrums in Australia as it seemed to be thriving during the 2008 Worl...

Hugh De Iongh, Sailor of the Month !

Congratulations to Hugh who is featured as the Yachts and Yachting, Sailor of the Month in the January issue of the magazine, in recognition of his role in getting Chesil Sailability up and running. Liz is quoted as saying 'He has done a huge amount of work behind the scenes and at meetings and sail...

Re: Draycote Dash

I look a bit pensive, amid a lot of shipping with well over a hundred boats. Alistair Warren did really well to finish 9th overall with a 2nd and 4th to his credit in the last two of the four back to back races on Saturday. It was predominately light winds, possibly a force 3 today for the double po...

Re: Draycote Dash

Good to see four ICs already entered. So far no other class has more than 4 entries yet so ICs are out to show off the class. At present the weather forecast looks like a force 3 on Saturday and a bit more on the Sunday. From the North it will be cold and launching from a lee shore! See you there ch...

Re: Oxford Open Meeting

Oh Well, it looks like I am still going to be in a minority of 0ne! The PY results are interesting, especially as I do better on handicap than not! Are you sure there is no fiddling going on to bring me on side with the new format ?! I spot just one error, in Group 3 results, Perham has been left wi...

Re: Oxford Open Meeting

Jim, Are you still working on posting the Oxford results adjusted for PY? I cannot find them anywhere and my computer will not recognise the file sent with an e-mail I got from Gareth. I am too computer illiterate to find a way to open it. So I will watch out for the published PY adjusted results in...

Re: Oxford Open Meeting

Yes, A big thank you to Bob and Simon and everyone else who put on the event. I am sorry I had to rush off after the racing, both my boat and my wife need TLC these days! As the one person who voted at the AGM against racing the ACs and ICs on the same start, I have not changed my mind! On Saturday,...

Re: Oxford Open Meeting

I hope to make it to Oxford but there are a few unknowns that might get in the way, like my wife's needs for care; she has a hospital appointment the day before. After the sailing I will need to get home so I will not stay for the dinner. At present the long range weather forecast suggests it will b...

Re: Latest IC Rules

Thanks Phil, The guys at HD Sails know the date for the Oxford open but have made no promises to have the sails ready by then, just an ambition! Unexpected delays are always possible. We could have a windy weekend between then and now with lots of urgent repairs for a sailmaker. Andy Patterson tells...

Latest IC Rules

I am about to get sails made for my new IC by Andy (Taxi) Davis and Jim Hunt of HD sails who are based in Birmingham, not far from my home, so it was easy to take the boat to them for a pre-making, measuring up session. When he was younger and smaller, Andy as a teenager used to sail Moths with me. ...

Re: Open Meetings and training events 2014/15

I agree, New Quay in West Wales would be a suitable venue especially early in the year before the school holidays when the village gets very crowded and car parking then becomes difficult. I organised a Moth Nationals at the club in about 2005 (with the Cherubs I recall) and they coped well with run...

Re: Europa Cup 2103, Loch Lomond

Thanks Jim for your personal account of the event. Clearly you enjoyed it and I enjoyed reading your account. Sailing again at Draycote on Wednesday evening was tame by comparison. I am gradually getting the new boat sorted. On return from Loch Lomond I have replaced the rope main halliard with a wi...
