Eurocup 2010
Hello,
is there a venue and a date for the Eurocup 2010, allready? As we are planning the nationals 2010 at the moment, we are wondering about the possible date of the Eurocup. German Nationals 2010 will propably be July 24th-29th or alternatively July 17th-23rd in Wilhelmshaven. I hope there will be no conflict!

We are willing to carry out the Euro Cup 2010 in Travemünde as a trial for the worlds 2011 if there is nothing else planned.
Is there anything planned in the UK?

Re: Eurocup 2010
Travemunde Week sounds great to me, fantastic well organised regatta, had a great time there in 2006 and I'm looking forward to the 2011 Worlds.
If the Eurocup 2010 is to be held there, we need an early decision to sort travel and accomadation, etc.
Cheers Dave

Arne,
Our main event next year will be the UK Nationals to be held at the Olympic venue in Weymouth. We want to make this a big event and will be looking at attracting as many entrants as possible - would be great to see our German and Swedish friends there as well. This event is currently only the UK Nationals as I understand the Europa Cup needs to be in Germany next year.

Re: Eurocup 2010
We are happy to have it in Germany, but I think one big international event is enough to gather all the European sailors so we need to decide quickly (until the 15th of October) where to host the Eurocup. If enough canoes from the UK and Sweden are willing to travel to Germany, great!
Weymouth sounds great to me as well! As I heard there was a meeting in the UK last weekend.
What was the general feeling among the British sailors?

Re: Eurocup 2010
The Europa Cup was held in the UK in 2007 and Sweden this year, so it had been anticipated that Germany would host it in 2010.
At the recent UK committee meeting, it was agreed that if Germany is unable or would prefer not to host it in 2010 for whatever reason, we would be happy to run a combined Europa Cup and UK Nationals at Weymouth, from 28 to 31 August 2010.

Re: Eurocup 2010
It is fixed now:
Europa Cup 2010 will be in Travemünde from 23rd to 27th of July. Check http://www.travemuender-woche.de for regular updates. It is not updated for 2010 yet, but you can check accomodation info, area, ...
There is a camping area for tents, caravans, motorhomes, vans.
Boats will probably be placed on the beach as we had last time.
Please feel free to contact me, if you have any questions.
More info like Notice of race, entry, etc. will follow.

Hi Arne
Are your dates right? The 23rd is a Friday. Hoping to come with my family , any recommendations on self catering (the wife prefers 5 star!)?
Thanks

Re: Eurocup 2010
Friday, 23rd will be the opening ceremony. On Saturday there will be the first race.
There will be no organised catering, but there are severeal options for breakfast and a lot of small shops (booth), where you can buy any kind of food. If you are planning to camp, you are free to cook for yourself

Hi Arne
Thanks for the info, what I really ment was any recommendations for accommodation, have been looking for an apartment to rent but do not seem to be able to find many in Travemunde, lots in Lubeck. Apart from the torist info web site is there anywhere else that might be good to look?
Many Thanks
Alistair

Re: Eurocup 2010
Hi Alistair
We're looking to stay in the same accomadation we had in 2006, we were well impressed with the accomadation which was found on the Lubeck/Travemunde Marketing site. Be careful with the prices quoted, most will have an additional cleaning charge that could be typically another 30% on top.
If you have a look on google earth you can then recognise addresses around Travemunde for suitability, most of the weeks activities are focussed along the Travepromenade and Strandpromenade with everything probably within a square mile.
I think everyone who attended found suitable local accomadation; I think Mike Rowe stayed in the tower block that dominates the seafront - envious views of the Baltic and the whole spectacle that is Travemunde Week. Everybody were within walking distance of the beach and we had some great evenings along the waterfront in the evening that becomes one big festival. A highly recommended regattta and we're looking forward to returning in 2010.
The Travemunde Week Regatta website is excellent for information.
