OXFORD SC OPEN AND TRAINING DAY ( 5th - 6th OCT)
With the last of the Premier Opens rapidly approaching followed by the customary end of season meal I've decided to try and get ahead of the game, for once.
Meal
Details of the event to follow later however I have made a reservation at The Bear and Ragged Staff in Cumnor Village (1.9M from Sailing Club) for the meal, though now need numbers. (menus etc can be found on http://www.bearandraggedstaff.com/
It's a pub / restaurant that's excellent quality and good value that we're recently stumbled on!
Accomodation
Thames Water have a strict no camping policy on site with the gates being locked at sunset till sunrise.
Therefore please see below a list of nearby accomodation
Campsite - Valley Farm Campsite, Farmoor :Tel 01865 861970
B&B's in Farmoor Village: Lane House B&B 01865 861970 / Oxford B&B Sabine Barn Tel 01865 865781 / Wisteria Lodge - Cumnor Tel 07740 424998
Pub / Hotels: The Bear and Ragged Staff, Cumnor Tel 01865 862329 / Jurys Inn Oxford - 01865 489988
There are plenty of B&Bs within the Oxford location I've just highlighted the closest ones to the club.
We look forward to seeing you all.

As a great venue and event could we have a show of hands for an ASYMMETRIC attendance.
Traditionally, ACs give a very good turn out at Oxford.

Booking of 35 has been made, with the venue happy to increase as required (number estimated, from interest at Weymouth and a few extra added for good measure!)

With Mengham Rythe cancelled this looks like my only chance of attending an open meeting this year.
Please count me in for Friday training and book a place for Dinner.
Michael.

Re: OXFORD SC OPEN AND TRAINING DAY ( 5th - 6th OCT)
Hi all.
A couple of details for the Oxford Training/Open.
Friday training; The forecast looks great at 6-10 Knots, so I will run a couple of practice starts followed by 3 or 4 short races (one lap). On the water for 13:00 and off the water at 16:00.
Saturday will be the usual 4 races 'back to back'. Each race will be about 45 minutes (the forecast is NW 14-18 knots with full sunshine so ideal for Oxford). Start time for the first race will not be before 11:00. (Briefing at 10:00, course to be advised subject to wind). SI's for Saturday are the standard Oxford Sailing Club open meeting's as posted on the OSC website. Any amendments will be posted on the official notice board on the day.
I will have to charge £12.50 for Friday and £15.00 for Saturday.
For people wanting to stay overnight in motor homes there is bad news. Due to problems with a previous fleet, this year Thames Water are not allowing anyone to leave their vehicles in the car park overnight. There is however a campsite 400 metres up the road on the way to the A420 (details on the OSC website).
Cheers

For those attending the meal, can I please ask you to look at the menu (hyperlink) and let me know your order. Venue are asking for a pre order so we get what we want and not whats left!
