DC ballot
So Aussies and New Zealanders have voted (though I've heard Poland got their National response in before us) and have given the big thumbs up to DC's.
How are the other nations coming along?

It is primary election season here in the US, and early exit pols show that there is overwhelming support to adopt Appendix IV. Electronic VMG toys are less likley to gain the 2/3 magority needed to pass in the US, and are not popular in Canada
Ballots for the US & Canada will be forwarded to Alan P. on Saturday the 23rd.
Full results will be posted once the pols close.

Well done USA and Canada.
I didn't add the weightings (http://www.intcanoe.org/library/Rule%20amend%2098.pdf) for our results:
AUS had 21 financial members vote giving us 5 votes at ICF Level
(NZ had 3 members equating to 1 vote)
How's the rest of the world coming along?

I got 14 German ballot papers back with 50% support of the new rules and only 21% support for electronic equipment.
So there are 3 votes against a change in both categories.

Jim,
What do you mean by:
" the much less popular electronic instruments proposal is almost level with the DC one." ?
I am very anxious to see the results from GBR, and how many votes Sweden pulls. As best I can tell, the vote at the ICF level could be very close as it requires unanimous support of the ICF Sailing Committee & a 75% majority of the national block votes. By my calculation GBR needs to be in favor, and Sweden (who I expect to vote no) needs to carry three votes or less to get a 75% majority.
Unanimous support on the ICF Sailing committee is also not certain

As I count it the electronic instruments has one (no, sorry, two) less national vote than the DC one, but many fewer individual votes.jkells wrote: " the much less popular electronic instruments proposal is almost level with the DC one." ?
I make the "popular vote" currently 61/10 for DC and 40/25 for Electronics, and the "electoral college" 14/3 for DC, 12/5 for Electronics. But I'm not 100% clear how abstentions are counted...
I have not a clue how the UK has voted: no feel for it at all. Having just sailed my old Nethercott at (I think) under 70kg instead of probably well over 83 as it was before (and most especially pulled her up the launch ramp at the lower weight) I really don't want to install lead.

John,
I see it the same as you, a very close result and we would need GBR across the line to progress forward, Im crossing my fingers toes etc... Im not sure which way Sweden would go if I had to say my guess is it would be a "no" vote
also. (I hope not)
It still has to go through the sailing committe, it would be nice at least to know if it has crossed one line (sailor vote) for now.

There was a slight delay with having to do a paying job.
However the build is back on track, all the material is sitting in my shed finishing of the moulds this week(end) so I'll lay the hull up next week. A new plank is half built and I'll start making some of the other ancillary items this week also, all going well I should be raedy to paint end of next month. Although there is another paying job early next month which might slow me down. (stay tuned for pic's)

Whilst we pass time waiting for the final results.....
Should have the new mast for AUS26 soon, ordered a C-Tech one - something a little softer for my slightly lighter than Steve Clark weight. I was pretty impressed with the C-tech sticks that Tim and Simon had on their boats.
So, as holders od the NYCC ICC - do we get to decide what boats can challenge for the Jug?

Christian,
I was happy with my CTech too, the product and the service.
But since I now race my moth against Clive Watts each saturday, next time I buy a spar will have to reflect that friendship and so it will be a CST.
Its good to have two quality suppliers to share our business with.

PS. The wait for the ballot result is getting stressful.
