I am sad to report the death of Peter Wells.
Peter was secretary of the British Canoe Union Sailing Committee for a long time in the 60’s 70’s and 80’s, served on the International Canoe Federation Sailing Committee as well being Commodore of the Royal Canoe Club for many years. He sailed canoes in the 50’s through to the 70’s along with his wife Joy.
Peter did an immense amount of work for canoe sailing nationally and internationally.
That was a very different era with plenty of challenges on the international scene and through Peter’s quiet diplomacy he somehow managed to keep quite divergent parties working together for the benefit of canoe sailing.
He was the goto source of history on canoe sailing and lots of great anecdotes which I fear will now be lost.
A sad loss to us all.

Re: PETER WELLS
Peter gave me quite a bit of help researching RCC history. I've posted some of the things I got from him, including early Canoe rules.
