Happy to measure it at Weymouth if not before. My new canoe will just make the Nationals as a first sail, so there will be 2 to measure.

Does anyone have any tips about finding the third party liability insurance required by the Worlds organizers?
In McCrea the organizer offered inexpensive event insurance but so far the only thing I can find in the US costs $600.

Chris,

It may be irrelevant to your needs, but as UK dinghy insurance policies normally cover racing in the UK plus on the continent of Europe for up to 30 days a year, when I went to Australia I had to get extra cover for just the Worlds. I arranged this through the insurance brokers recommended by our national, Royal Yachting Association: 'Bishop Skinner'. I think it cost me about £45. My normal UK insurance is with a different company. Bishop Skinner have a UK web site 'www.bishopskinner.com' but I have no idea if they would take on a customer from the USA? They might know of American alternatives if you sent them an e-mail.

Several of the International Moth sailors from the USA race at events in Europe so that the US IMCA might be a source of information on what they do for insurance. Our mutual friend, Nigel may know what he did when he sailed in the Moth Worlds in the UK two years ago, but we have also had IC sailors from the USA race in the UK which presumably raises the same issue?

I hope you get sorted. Sadly I cannot make it to the Worlds myself this time. My wife has developed health issues since we returned from Australia and I cannot leave her for nearly two weeks on her own with a clear conscience.

Colin

OK the worlds are getting a little closer. Has any of the UK sailors entered online yet? I know that John Ellis tried but was not able to complete the process. PLEASE advise.
As for the entries via the BCU who is going to do this ? Andy, Gareth please advise.

Hi Colin
I have entered on line, when I did it it was partly in German and partly translated, so it helps to have another window open with a translation web site on it, but it did go through, I paid with a debit card, the payment on there site debit is actually a bank transfer so you need to select the credit card payment option. I did get an e-mail acknowledgement. I asked around a bit and have sent my paper UK entry to Andy Biden. Should be collecting boat on Monday, its all a little bit tight on time, not sure if I will make the Nationals, may be asking you to come down and measure it when I have finished, fancy a night or two in Aldeburgh? Just need to book the ferry now and then I will be all sorted (well as long as the sliding seat does not break and I get my sails and........)

Alistair

Hi Colin,

I can confirm that I have entered via the Travemunde website, and paid by credit card.

No news yet about who is collecting UK entries?

Just entered on line, very easy, if you know your German.Carol Ellis provided a very useful translation to make the job much easier.
Looking forward to seeing you all there in a month or so.

Whats the overseas count like? Any AUS or USA canoes entered yet?

Okay, I have a question about the International Challenge Cup.

Unfortunately no Australians will be travelling to Germany to compete - what does this mean to the International Challenge Cup?
Do I have it couriered to Germany for it to be challenged for undefended?
Or do we (Australia) hang onto it until we are challenged over here or until the next worlds?
