HI ALL. Some new for the hourtin eurocup 2019:
If you want to book something near the club you have to do it quickly as it is a very popular place for holidays, BUT, the date isn't decided yet. It can be the 27/07 to 3/08 OR 20/07 to 27/07. it will be decided quickly.
The club is the CVMH at Hourtin. It is located at the opposite side of the the lake at "Piqueyrot". There is some rent houses very near the club.
I'll give you more info when things will be decided. Hope to see as many IC/AC sailors as possible.

Some more info on the Eurocup for 2019
Dates are confirmed as July 27th to August 3rd 2019.
Those wishing to camp and campervans must inform Gilles soonest to ensure space is reserved.
Campers and tents will not be allowed onsite at the club as its a conservation area. A campsite is available at Hourtin which is just across the lake on the western side and a boat will be provided to run between the club and campsite.
There will be social events; a trip to a chateau with vineyard visit and being in the Bordeaux area this should be epic, bicycle ride in the forest and dunes.
The cost for the event will be 150 Euro. Further details will appear on FaceBook under "International Canoes"
Gilles tells us the growing French fleet will be there in force and intend to take the Eurocup, so there's a challenge for us all.....

Re: europa cup 2019
The campervans are allowed near the club, in the old camping side by side during the day ( 6h/22h) But they must go to hourtin port camper park for the night. I have to book the places in the camper park so, please send a message if you come with a camper.
There will be a boat to cross the lake each day for those who don't want to move they campers.
For the others solutions, please book as quickly as you can because it's a very popular place for holidays. You can find campings and rent houses on the facebook posts.
cheers, Gilles

Hi all,
As i don't know if everybody is on Facebook i give here a website for home renting very near the club:
https://www.homelidays.com/results/keyw ... e&ssr=true.
I think there will be other houses in a few times.
I have just 3 places for campervans to book at Hourtin port, Is there is other sailors who will come with campers?
Cheers, Gilles

Hi Gilles,
Could you please confirm the actual race days for the Europeans please. I can’t for some reason identify these from the postings.

Re: europa cup 2019
I've been getting very exited about the prospect of a European cup in conditions that could well mimic Australia in 2020. Seasonal average Temp of 30*c with reliable breezes, and a stones throw from some of the best Surfing Beeches in Europe to keep us busy on the Lay days!
But...Travel needs to be booked NOW as it is all getting to a point where remaining Ferry places will soon be circling the plug hole.
Same applies to accomodation. Single occupancy of Condo flat in Hourtin Port looks surprisingly reasonable price, even better if Shared (as little as £140 each for the week ) and alot more comfy than a tent, (Though at a seasonal Av as noted of @30* tent remains a possibility or even a Probability.
I am keen to consider sharing costs and have been investigating the possibility of double Trailer arrangement. I think I will book 1st and then advertise for a prospective trailer share.
To aid decision making I have made up a Spreadsheet to compare the costs of different ferries and added calculation factor in all the other variables, including distance to travel to Hourtin from the different ports, + Estimates of Petrol cost calculator. The overall trend is that the Ferries get more expensive as you get further from Dover/ so much so that unless you actually live in Portsmouth or Plymouth, Dover Calais is the cheapest option. Toll roads are also a big expense. As trailing is likely to restrict speed to @ 40-50mph average, this is an avoidable expense if your Sat Nav has the right software to avoid Tolls.
I cant post it here as the forum wont allow an Excel attachment, but if anyone might find this helpful I can email it if you message me an address.
The Royan - Verdon ferry across the Garronne Estuary will probably cost an extra £30 - 40 each way so better to go over the bridge at Bordeuax
Also to do...Repairs to the floor of K102 Torment and / or resealing the many leaks on K203 Moonshadow
To top it all a Nationals at Plymouth should be a fantastic dress rehearsal.
I am keen to get to both events.
Are we at a point where we need to be giving Gilles a heads up on our individual entry plans or is this all happening on Facebook or somewhere else?

Hi,
Yes this is all happening on the event facebook site, you just have to click.
For the ferries cost i asked Brittany ferries if it's possible to have a better price for all but i don't have any answer..... It does exist prices for groups, you might ask them if some of you wants to make the travel together.
Mr Vendamme is an active sailor (RS600, IC10 and ...a 14m old wood sailing boat) but he works during the summer.... I hope he will come. I'll give him you informations.
See you in Hourtin.
Cheers, gilles

Re: europa cup 2019
I may be able to come up with a discount code for Brittany Ferries, Watch this space. The ferries don't fill up that quickly. My ferry for last years euros was booked mid march.

Re: europa cup 2019
Oh and beware of the advertised rental prices in Hourtin, All the ones I contacted had incorrect prices. The cheapest rates seem to be around 70 euros per day.

Does it look like the competition will be strong this year?
Re: europa cup 2019
I hope so.
at this moment 31 sailors told or wrote they will come and the race is 3 months from now.
40 boats should be good and the winner is.......
