The UK Nats are dedicated to best achievable UK venue and available dates and thus always a priority. It’s always going to be difficult to satisfy secondary events around such a UK Primary which takes considerable lead time.

IC10 brexit ?
Seriously, i don't want to be a pain in the neck for the UK fleet and i understand as the french fleet (!) doesn't really exist yet. So, i will be at Sanguinet in july to sail every day, a race is possible from the 15 with or without brits sailors. Tell me what you want me to do to not interfere with the UK nationals.

For Emma and me the date for the nationals look very good. We are planing to join you in West Kirby if nothing unexpected happens. We plan to join you and maybe bring Ole with us. But as we will have to leave on friday, to get to our nationals on saturday next evening, we would like to come to west kirby a little bit earlier to have a few more days of sailing in West Kirby. Will that be possible Tony?

Re: FIXTURES 2020 & beyond
Its never easy getting all the fixtures planned. The ICF Sailing Committee plan a Europa Cup in the years when there is no World Championship and this (the Europa Cup) is usually run in conjunction with a host country's National Championship giving all European IC Sailors the opportunity to sail in international competition in Europe in two years out of three. I'm sure each country plans its National Championship to maximise the level of competition and this naturally falls when there is peak demand at the possible venues. Then there are other factors such as family holidays.... usually for many in August. I'm just pleased that we have a good venue for the UK Nationals next year because at one stage finding a suitable venue was looking tricky.
Now then; to our European friends who wish to compete at West Kirby.... you will be most welcome....if you wish to come over earlier you will be even more welcome as you will have my undivided attention! We will have the "Commodore's Cruise" out to a sandbank at the mouth of the Dee Estuary on the Saturday. There's a colony of seals out there; they get much pleasure from our annual visit. We take the bar and the BBQ from the sailing club with us for refreshment. On the Sunday there will be club racing early in the morning...good practise for the championships. You will have won the championships by Thursday so you will not have to sail on Friday which will give you time to catch the ferry in time for the German Championships. Its all carefully planned !
I'm looking forward to a great canoe sailing in the 2020 season and in particular to welcoming you all to West Kirby SC.

Re UK NATIONALS 2020 West Kirby SC
This posting just to keep you informed that discussions are being had with WKSC regarding the Nationals. As the lock down is being eased and we are getting back on the water there is hope but not a lot ! Be "Alert" (!!) for further communications in the near future.

Re: FIXTURES 2020 & beyond
Hi Tony
For those of us that can’t book the full week off, will there be any racing, even if informal, on either the weekend before or after the nationals? Might only be able to take the one day off work so just thinking how to get the most from it.
I appreciate that it’s not an easy world to plan in at the moment, but well done you are all doing a cracking job!

Re UK IC NATIONALS at West Kirby SC
Whilst I emailed updates to all class members on 16th & 30th June I forgot to post anything on the Forum - apologies.
The current situation is:
- The Coronavirus lockdown restrictions have been eased in all countries of the UK to a level where a championship could take place.
- West Kirby SC had its first organised event on Sat 4th July since the lockdown and is taking a step by step approach to the new normality; whatever that is.
The Nationals were postponed from the original date of 20/7 to a later date. The focus is on Mon31/8 to 4/9 but this has not been confirmed yet by West Kirby SC. I am in discussion with them and hope to be able to make a further announcement soon.

WKSC 'FUN CANOE WEEK' Mon 31/8 - Fri 4/9 2020
This event has now become titled the 'Fun Sailing Week'. It's not a week but it is sailing and it will be fun !
It will be a handicap event with various WKSC classes racing in one race per day using average lap times; racing for approx 1.5 hours. If there are light winds on any day there will probably be a second race and if conditions permit there will be a long distance race.
Its all low key - no prizes - no entry fee - purely sailing for pure enjoyment.
If you haven't been able to sail much or at all this season because of the wretched virus this event is for you. The lads and lassies of the WKSC IC fleet would just love you to join them.
Go on - you know you want to.
