Castle Cove Open and training 26-18th April
Castle Cove Open and training 26-18th April
The Castle Cove open and training is scheduled for this weekend. Training with Adam Bowers of Friday and two days of racing.
We are looking closely at the forecast as there is a possibility of gales particularly in the Saturday but Friday and Sunday look windy but sailable. At the moment the Contenders who have organised the weekend are going ahead with the programme.
Can we have a indication of who is intending to come to the event.
We need to ensure that we have sufficient numbers to justify the club running the racing so based on feedback from the fleet and the forecast, we will review tomorrow and confirm.

I plan to be there for the training on Friday (although might go out on the RIB rather than sailing as the boat won't be fully ready for Friday).
And plan to be there for the racing, forecast permitting!

Change to the schedule based on wind forecast.
All indications are that Saturday will be blown off with gradient wind of 30mph and gusts of up to 50mph. Friday is less but Adam feels that with gusts of 29mph forecast it is highly likely to be too windy to do any meaningful training as such. The forecast for Sunday looks ideal with 11mph gusting 17.
On that basis we will make this a one day event on the Sunday with three races starting at 1030hrs. As most will have accommodation on the Saturday booked we suggest registration should be on the Saturday afternoon and (assuming you can get your mast up in the conditions) rigging of boats can be done in advance.
it's proposed that food will be available at the club for Saturday night.
