John,

Tony is co-ordinating fixtures with input from the committee members.

Bear in mind many of the fixtures are Secondary Events requiring 3 boats minimum to attend and get a result to count towards the Travellers Trophy i.e. a full set of DNS or DNC's doesn't count as a result. These are a good opportunity for local reps to get local boats attending the event and making it into an annual canoe meeting - Saundersfoot Coppet Week being a good example of this.

The idea of secondary's is to sail with other fleets and show them what the IC/AC is capable of. This helps promote the class and is far more effective than any other form of marketing.

We need to attend these and others and show them what the boats can do. If there any other events which are likely to attract the minimum of 3 boats these can be added to the calendar and Travellers Trophy list.

So John, can I count on you as our Northern Area Rep then :?:

How about Chichester Harbour Race week. 13th - 17th August, tucks in nicely between the Europa Cup end pf July and Castle Cove at the end of August.

Quite a few ICs there last year and provides a huge audience of other boats to raise awareness / interest. School holidays also, so large input from school age and students.

I think if enough boats you get a separate fleet/prizes.

Check out the vids. (VR sport again.)

UK NATIONALS 2018
Thursday 28/6/18 to Sunday 1/7/18
&
Canoe Week "One Race a Day Series"
Monday 25/6/18 to Sunday 1/7/18
run concurrently with the Championships.

I have emailed the NOTICE OF RACE and ENTRY FORM + MENU
to members of the UK IC Class.

Please contact Tony Marston if for any reason you haven't received this NOR, ENTRY FORM + MENU

A record entry is expected - if you are interested in canoe sailing come to Stone SC on the Blackwater Estuary, Essex, to see sailing canoes in action.

Planning to join the Canoe Class? This is good starting point.

Planning a new IC ? Your timing is exquisite ! It takes time to put a new IC together - starting now you could be competing in next year's Europa Cup in Bordeaux or the next Worlds the year after in Australia.

One week to go to the Nationals at Stone and the weather forecast is looking great with temps in the low 20's and wind in the 10 - 15 knot range.

Prior commitments, and broken boats mean I cant get to Stone . I'll miss the racing and wish you all a good week!

I see a long summer/Autumn of fixing and glueing ahead of me.

The Race Officer has sensibly cancelled racing on Saturday for the Final Fling in Plymouth. This will now be a one day event with three races on Sunday. The Saturday evening talk by Mike Mcnamara and Happy hour (From 6PM) are still going ahead.
