Torment K102.

Post by michael Brigg » Mon Apr 12, 2010 11:47 am

Hi, I'm new on this site but have lurked for a while. In the 1970's in Chichester Harbour I remember watching the Scandanavians racing prior to the Worlds that were at Hayling one year. from my humble firefly, and wished.

I have been having sleepless nights lately. It's ever since I watched the opportunity to get K101 "Dicey" on ebay slip through my fingers. (Is she still on the circuit.)

I have known about K 102,"Torment" for a while, but havn't had the opportunity to do anything about it. I have even, until the password renewal kicked in, had the name as my login at work. That seemed to do the trick!! :P

One picture says it all...

Welcome Mike!

Not sure what happened to 'Dicey'.....does anyone know?

Glad you got Torment though......was wondering what had happened with her.

Hopefully see you on the water soon.

There is talk about another 'heritage-canoe' event soon, so make sure you get to that.

cheers

"Dicey" now at home at West Kirby SC in capable hands of Mat Shepherd who is carrying out a fully re varnishing. Looks pretty too but not quite ready yet. She's expected back on the water this month to join the other 12 or 13 IC's... I'm losing count.

Thanks Tony,

good to know that.

Is she being modernised and if so ....to what extent?

or just re-built to original....or last spec?

cheers

Minor updates to slide carriage to remove old SS bridge and give platform for mainsheet takeoff. Otherwise original. It will be interesting to see how she performs against other Nethercots where rig/cb has been moved aft. She has a fixed carriage like 3 of the 5 'Slurps' and a Proctor (GBR108). I'm not sure if she's been re decked at some point in her past... the carriage indicates she hasn't but the rubbing strip, being a bit on the agricultural side, indicates she has.
