Re: I C ONE DESIGN FOR SALE.
I think the Pyranha had its foredeck and side-bits stripped in Oz and went on being used there. Stud Budden renamed Virtue's boat 'The Baked Bean'.....but had to sell due to a few health probs... If memory serves....this boat takes the record for 'build-time' as I think the whole build was done in s...
Re: Training
Oh, I am totally like that! but not sure if it is always the same way around or if sometimes it is one tack that gives me problems and sometimes the other. either way, once I get it into my head that 'port-tacks' (or whichever) are harder, my confidence goes on that tack and it quickly becomes a rea...

Re: jib sheet getting stuck under sliding seat any tips?
Around the seat? or just between the top of carriage and seat? To be honest.....I think my answer would be 'yeah its a bastard' If you make the gap small enough for a rope to not get stuck in there, the seat 'may' not jam properly when you are sitting on it. As to giving advice to stop it.....well e...

Re: international canoe k184
Certainly well worth the varnish! I was tempted myself as really rather missing having a 'classic' canoe. Not sure what to sail at Classic events this year! Thought I would just mention that K184 also just fit inside the current CVRDA banding for their 'old' wing (pre 1985).....so you would also be ...

Re: international canoe k184
OK, I have her down as winning: Quincey Cup 1990 Knowles Challenge Bowl 1990 Seamanship Trophy 89/90 City of Plymouth Trophy 88 All with PW Marshall at the helm. This may or may not be right......but I would assume it is, unless someone else has better records than the Eastwood history. Never knew t...

Re: rudder stalling
Yes, that was my experience with my first rudder. Then new rudder, whether because of being slightly bigger or bringing the shaft forwards gave the boat much more 'feel' and I found this much easier to sail with. Whether it is faster/slower I just don't know... I have always been curious why IC rudd...

Photos would really help. Best to upload somewhere (Flickr, PicasaWeb, photobucket) and put in a link.
I will look into why images are not working. We have most probably filled up our alloted space again.

Re: rudder stalling
Yes, I used to have this problem... I made a bigger and cleaner foil and things seem to work much better now. I also put the shaft point a little further forwards to say 35% chord rather than the 45% it was before, giving it a bit more feel. I do reckon that a smaller foil is obviously a bit faster,...

Re: George Gyngell
I think I first met George at an Oxford Open. It was my first IC open on a blustery and cold day at Farmoor reservoir and I was sitting in the bar looking out at the grey skies and feeling rather forlorn, lonely and wondering what the hell I was doing there. I guess George could see my apprehension ...

Re: Int. Canoe Quotes
Great idea....
the only other quote that springs to mind is the:
'Anything else, is like kissing your sister' quote
which I think came from an Ozzie IC t-shirt?? I am sure someone will tell us.
But whether this is where it originally came from......not sure.
cheers

Re: New to canoe sailing....
You show me yours and I will show you mine:  I have also got some gopro footage taken whilst sailing the IC. Are you using the GoPro? Have you had any issues with fogging? For myself, I have really had problems with the lens fogging up after only about 10mins or so of sailing. It's not so b...

Re: New to canoe sailing....
Well, for myself.....I liked 'Acquadissyact' but on the whole I am not that keen on changing boat names. GBR242 is called 'Dry White Whine' which I really think is a quite horrible name, but I doubt that I will change it.... Tell us how you get on in a little more wind when you get the chance. cheer...
