Re: Torment, K102

I guess the detail included with the video tells us where this is, even in translation. It also tells us the John Biddle, sailing "Dicey" was the winner of the regatta! 06. Steinhuder Meer: Canoe Sailing Championship swivel boat ashore, demonstration of a pull-out Gleitsitzes. Detail settings, rear ...

(Just a few fiddly bits to discover in the faffage stage...) I've documented most of it on http://www.cvrda.org in various posts...

Re: Proposed New Rules

Might this not be a rule to prevent multiple exotic sytems masquerading as "Accessory Centreplates and rudders" being shaped in such a way as to act as lateral foils, (such as seen here on "Wild Oats") https://keyassets.timeincuk.net/inspirewp/live/wp-content/uploads/sites/21/2015/04/Photo-4_Lateral...

Re: Calling 'Starboard'

Having lurked on this site for a little while I am hoping to be in a position to call Starboard some time soon although I would have thought that in a boat such as an IC the foot print of the boat is so large (in terms of width, this might cause such disruption to the hailing boat than it might more...

Making a slow start

Hi, I've been spending the last 2 years lurking after joining what seems a happy band of brothers with the aquisition of a boyhood dream. I feel I must start reporting back to motivate myself! :? So far I'm just getting the boat into a condition to be simply revarnished. I think there is little else...

Re: South West France Venue

I have sailed on this lake about 2 years ago, on a "Rockley Sailing School" holiday. The sailing would I imagine be ideal for the IC, though in many places it is quite shallow, especially up the eastern shore. My (Non sailing) family really enjoyed the sailing school, and found the conditions ideal....

Re: wanted IC

This one didn't sell on ebay just recently. Looks nice and has had a fair bit done already. Would be nice if it stayed classic.... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/International-Canoe-10-sq-meters-IC-/330613934514?pt=UK_Sporting_Goods_Sailing_Boats_ET&hash=item4cfa2049b2 I think there is an ebay facility t...

Re: VIDEO FOOTAGE LLANDEGFEDD OPEN

Love the bob under the boat technique, beats swimming all the way round, watching that I had a DURRR obviously moment! Chris 193 This technique is outlined on the Contender site, which has a series of "how to" videos. http://contenderskiff.org/en/the-boat/howtosail.html Click on the "How to capsize...

Re: missing boats

I have K102, "Torment." Finished from a cold moulded hull, and exhibited in the Dinghy show some time @ 1970, sailed a bit then put away some time in 1970's and then orphaned after the owner got suddenly ill and died. His widow kept the boat in the garage untouched until 2009. I am keeping her origi...

Re: mast bouyancy

I think the Dart catamaran employs a halyard lock. (It also has a rotating mast) I have been told that if you keep the boat from inverting, this can cause the boat to blow away from you. (Another reason for holding on to the mainsheet.) The Original firefly mast was sealed,(made in 1946 - 1970's by ...

Re: Mast Rake for a Nethercott One Design

Just for interest really. My newly aquired K101 has been in Hibernation since 1970, and has a Gold Proctor ("C" I think.) It is a rotating mast, and has no spreaders. It is INCREDIBLY heavy and its CG is about 3m above deck level! Is it even worth tuning? My real concern when I get round to using it...

Torment K102.

Hi, I'm new on this site but have lurked for a while. In the 1970's in Chichester Harbour I remember watching the Scandanavians racing prior to the Worlds that were at Hayling one year. from my humble firefly, and wished. I have been having sleepless nights lately. It's ever since I watched the oppo...
