Re: Newish sails

I'm beginning to think that the important issue with sails is how flat they will go in windy weather. Its no good at all having a full powerful suit of sails and not able to first tack, and second flattern them out when required. Those sails I used in Oxford were very flat and 0.6m undersize. BUT i ...

Re: Europa Cup 2012, Plymouth

On the subject of sharing events, I have been contacted by the D-One class association who also wish to share some events with us. Again this will help keep the costs down . I have lost the contact details for their class rep, think Steve Bowen made contact, if you have the details please advise, th...

Re: GBR 319 Hull

GBR 319 is no longer for sale. Took the jigsaw to it this weekend and the decks are off ! Looked carefully into a new build project but in the end I just did not fancy a full build again this winter. Thanks to the 2 people who showed real interest , please do buy yourself one asap. These new canoes ...

GBR 319 Hull

I am prepared to sell my recently completed Morrison GBR 319 shell by Andy Patterson and stuck together by myself. Selling hull complete with seat and carriage but not fittings. This is the quickest and easy way into a DC . Offered at a very sensible price of £3000.

Re: Oxford Open - October 8th (and 9th) - Who's coming?

Hi JMC and Co. A few notes on GBR 319. This is a bog standard Morrison as moulded by Andy. Its down to weight ( well nearly ). Its due starting this week for some major improvements, the dance floor is a little to high for this old gentleman sailor. I need it to be a little more user fiendly, 40 yea...

Re: Oxford Open - October 8th (and 9th) - Who's coming?

Thanks are due to Bob C for setting up this weekends racing. A really good well attended event with 20 or so canoes. Thanks also to Simon and his team for the on the water race management, excellent courses with a nice autumn wind. But please no mention of the our Welsh friends who look far too happ...

Re: Proposal for increase in minimum weight to 55Kg?

My shell ( Morrison ) expertly built by Andy P and completed by myself at home came out at 52.5 kgs. Its a wonderful canoe but I do wish the hull was a little more dent resistant. If the rules are changed ( and all members will get there say worldwide ) and weight increased to 55kgs, I'll add a laye...

Re: Rudder Profiles

The standard canoe without the kite is just fine. Not at all sure I would want to encourage kites on the new rules canoes. I think we need a good take up of new younger owners first, real need to keep costs down ,kite adds considerably to the cost. With the proposal to increase minimum weight to 55k...

Re: Measurement forms

Hi Chris, sorry for the delay in replying, but just seen your posting. Yes I have a new rules measurement form and diagram to help explain the rules. The form is a little long winded, but, covers all the needs to be measured. If you still want one , or any other national associations, I'll be happy ...

Re: Rudder Profiles

Cheers Mike, as you say , for the centreboards I use a NACA 63 000 SERIES, which has a finer entry and moves the max thickness back to 35%. I have tried a rudder with the NACA 63 000 series , on my old yellow AC but it stalled out on fast reaches with the kite, not nice. I used that rudder in German...

Rudder Profiles

Building a new rudder for GBR 319, propose to use the tried and tested NACA 000 series. Can anyone suggest a better section , that is of course that I can make at home with normal tools?
Size will be 535mm deep by 200mm x 20mm. Views please
