Re: Calling 'Starboard'

Such FUN !! I remember the red mist coming over GBR 310 and mounting my poor GBR 299 across the foredeck as if in the deer rutting season at Oxford a few years ago. The marks are still to be seen to this day. Whenever the urge takes you a Steve! The IC fleet enjoy better company. Colin Brown GBR 299...

IC GBR 319 For Sale

I am thinking of building a new rules canoe. So I am really looking for anyone interested in purchasing my current canoe. At the moment just looking to sell all of the "white bits". Thats bare hull ( no fittings), carriage, sliding seat and rudder. Other bits available, together with a mountain of s...

Re: Measurement Matters - Post Nationals

Its really very simple, all of the One Designs I have measured over the last 20 years have all had foam blocks added to support 75kgs, as making the minimum weight in these canoes was never a problem, so foam blocks were used for added buoyancy which added about 3kgs. There is no issue with these ca...

Measurement Matters - Post Nationals

After some discussion at the AGM regarding hulls, sails and other equipment for owners to comply with the rules, these items were checked the following morning to ensure compliance. Four canoes were found to have incorrect marks on the sliding seats and one canoe without adequate internal buoyancy. A...

The photos taken by Champion Photography will be available on their web site by the end of the week. They have indicated that there are some 'wild' ones. Did they manage to catch Gaz having one of his 'moments'?

Re: A tale of two jibs, or should I send this back?

Having measured a dozen or more sails this year, problems with sails made by a number of leading sailmakers appear to be a theme this year. Delivery dates, sail area, profile and shapes being the main cause for concern. However I do not know what was ordered! Go with someone you can trust and when o...

Re: Measuring at the Nationals

Hi Max, let me know the sail number and make of sail, plus area if still on stamp and I will have a look to see if I have a copy. Speaking for myself, provided that the sails have a stamp showing the sail area then for the nationals my view is that will be OK. Sooner of later you will need the paper...

Europa Cup 2016

Do we have a location for the next Europa Cup? I thought it was suggested that Holland would be popular, any news?

Re: Jib hanks

Thanks for all of your replies. The jib on Monkey looks fine to me , so 8 to 10 jib hanks would do it for club racing. Now I assume that you can still buy them? I did have a long discuss with our class chairman Gaz today, he assured me that the retro look on canoes is still fast, or so I was advised...

Jib hanks

I have been looking at converting my jib halyard system to a fixed forestay. There will be limited adjustment via a vernier plate at the tack, the jib will be 'stuff luff ' and the forestay feed through the jib luff every time out. Now the problem is my jibs have battens and leaving it hoisted betwe...

Re: South West France Venue

I'm all for this, but needs to be outside the French school holidays if possible. Dates I see as the only real problem. Also a very long way from the German IC sailors, essential to keep all the class types on board. Last time we went to Carnac ( 1992?)the Swedes and Germans drove 1600km each way to...

Re: Chines and dancefloor

Hi Arne, I would keep the freeboard and the BMS to the minimum. My ( painful ) experience is that just climbing back into the canoe after a capsize you will want the lowest height possible. Approaching the OD height if possible. Also keep the dance floor low also - must drain of course - as Steve sa...
