Re: RRS 49.1

I don't believe that RRS 49.1 is relevant to ICs, or any other dinghy for that matter. It concerns positioning crew on boats with lifelines. Otherwise every dinghy with a trapeze would have to include some dispensationg in class rules.

Re: New Canoe Owner

Hi Alex, Welcome to the class. I'm sure you'll have a lot of fun with your IC and soon get hooked on the class. Regarding boat number it sounds as if it could be 229, built by Ian Smith & Tony Marston 1991-96 (must have taken them a long time to finish the job). Original name was 'Ogaf the Unbearabl...

Re: B Class Canoe Photo

At this year's Europa Cup/Nationals I put up a poster with the later dates, but at the ACM warned that they might be changed because the earlier week would suit the Germans better. Further investigation has shown that it also suits the Swedes better. So the dates are now Monday 29 July to Friday 2 A...

Re: Deck grip

Cheapest and best value-for-money way is to apply a coat of paint/varnish and sprinkle sugar (granulated) or salt on. It then dries to a good grippy surface.

My thanks too to Chris for a great event. I know much has to be done to organise it; pity more boats didn't make it.

Re: Europa Cup 2012, Plymouth

Mountbatten centre is getting booked up - no en-suite rooms left. However the hotel has reasonable rates. I'm booked there.

Re: wanted first boat cheapnear the netherlands

Hi There. Great to hear some more interest from the Netherlands. Are you in contact with John Van Bueren (john@sitkaspruce.nl)? He has an AC and has passed his IC on to another sailor in the Netherlands. Hope you have success in finding a canoe.

Re: South West France Venue

Great if we could get the French to organise it as a Europa Cup: it might breathe life into the French IC fleet.

Re: New York Cup rules

Thanks Ben. It's always worth going back to the Rules in cases like this. However things are not always as simple as they might be, or the circumstances might not be as envisaged under the codicil. I think it has been assumed that there will be a contest for the New York Cup, but does that mean that...
