Re: NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS 2017 at W&PNSA

Not many ACs have expressed their intention to enter yet: yes, I've done so and put my entry in. Come on guys, we need minimum of 6 of us to have a class.

Re: How to dismantle rudder?

Looks as though the bit at the top of the rudder post which is above the tiller is larger than the rudder post and must come off somehow.

Re: Proposed Rule Changes - Ballot

I am in favour of what the rule changes are proposing, viz.: a. no lifting foil on daggerboard/centreboard, b. only 1 daggerboard/centreboard to be fitted at any time (but can be changed between races), c. only 1 rudder to be fitted at any time (but can be changed between races), d. rudder may have ...

Re: Ullswater Yacht Club

Sad news indeed Colin. I've seen some pictures and sent a message to your Commodore, copy to John R.

I'm sure that the resilience of UYC members will show through again. I'm already looking forward to an excellent Lord B.

Steve,

You almost tempt me. However much regret I can't make it on those dates.

Re: Calling 'Starboard'

Jim is quite correct in saying that RRS do not require a boat on starboard to hail one on port. RRS 10 is very clear that a port-tack boat SHALL keep clear of a starboard-tack boat. RRS 14 (Avoiding Contact) says that a boat shall avoid contact with another if reasonably possible: however a right-of...

Re: HISTORY REQUIRED ON F3 IMPORTED to FRANCE 1980

Minor correction to Rob: Mamba is/was 143, not 243. 141, 142 aand 143 are all noted as Square Ten GRP.

I had 148 which had a bacon-slicer from that era. Somewhat surprisingly I still have all my fingers intact.

Re: HISTORY REQUIRED ON F3 IMPORTED to FRANCE 1980

My records from my time as Class Sec. show that K14 is/was called Venture but K3 is/was called Mayfly (strange if she has become FRA 3!). K14 is described "Linton Hope/Hart Harden & Co 1908, sister to AQUAMARINE. Original owner O P Browne." and K3 as "Linton Hope/Burgoine 1908. Original owner Linton...

Re: Seat Pullers?

Hi Ben, Like many others, I don't have a seat-puller, but a seat restraint, i.e. I lift my weight off the seat/carriage and manually pull the carriage back and then pull on the restraint line through a cleat. The restraint runs from the underside of the for'd end of the carriage around a block aft o...

No Loch Lomond Dinghy Week

I have no idea how it came about, but contrary to the list of IC Events published with The Sliding Seat there is NO Loch Lomond Dinghy Week from 17-21 August. Sorry to disappoint anyone who was getting excited about coming north. Loch Lomond SC has an Open Dinghy Weekend which is always the first we...

Re: http://www.bartsbash.co.uk/boat-class/dinghy/int-canoe

We had 3 canoes out at Loch Lomond (Ian McP and I are listed under Canoe International, Katie under Int Canoe). Wind peaked at nearly 1 knot until after faster (all things being relative) boats had finished and an Optimist won the club race on handicap!
