GNAV - pros and cons?
Heading says it all, really. I like the idea of a clear working area forward of the slide, where you want to be in very light weather, and of ending those embarrassing moments coming ashore when the main foil is lifted and the boom turns out to be on the wrong side of the kicker. Cons presumably inc...

Re: Jib boom vs dangly pole
Jib sheets attach to clew. Drawbacks of non-adjustable tension are: - in a blow, when you need lots of tension to control the leach downwind, that same tension means the jib is fairly powered-up through the tack, even when the sheet is freed. Puts a premium on tacking skills. - in lighter weather, w...

IC GBR 311 - withdrawn from sale
Scarlett is no longer for immediate sale. I want to enjoy another season - however much of it we get to have of it - with her, and her replacement likely won't be afloat until 2021. Anyone interested in buying Scarlett for next season, however, is welcome to contact me: perham.harding@btinternet.com...

Re: WEST KIRBY SC OPEN EVENT 31/8 & 1/9 2019
How can you miss it? Tony's 50th Canoeing year; at his home club; enlivened with a barbecue on Hilbre Island (northern outpost of the Royal Canoe Club, still with Canoes in store dating back to the Rob Roy / Baden-Powell era in the late 19thC). We're talking more than a hundred years of Sailing Cano...

Re: DM20 dyneema for shrouds ...
About the jib boom. Could be that there's too much tension on the leach for lighter conditions -> ease off the line to the leading end of the boom to allow more twist. Or, less likely, that the way you have rigged it allows the foot to be pulled back too far, taking out fullness low down. The sheet ...

Wire or dyneema halyard?
I have a 2.5mm wire main halyard, without a halyard lock. Would dyneema (or similar) be -similarly non-stretch -same diameter or bigger -lighter or heavier? If stretch is an issue how does a masthead lock work on an internal halyard? What's the most reliable? - almost equally important to me are - w...
