Re: Australia Team to 2017 Worlds

Flights Are BOOKED :D

I am going!

Now to find a boat.... I would really like to find a new rules boat if it is possible. Of course if exhausting all possibilities of a new rules boat is unsuccessful, I would happily sail a Slurp or a Nethercott.

I'd better get training

Re: Australia Team to 2017 Worlds

Hi Hayden, So I am pretty keen...really keen in fact... Completely motivated after the PCC's up at the Maas farm. Only thing is I don't want to settle for a Nethercott loan/charter/lease boat anymore. I like to think I was sailing pretty well at the PCC's on a very light and tricked out Nethercott (...

Re: XX World Championship 2017

Hi Tony, X 2 on the interest in charter boat options for down under. I'm pretty keen and I am trying to manipulate work to give me the time off. I'll take whatever is available!
Thanks

Re: 2016 IC sailing

Yes Hayden, Very active, most Saturday's and Tuesdays unless work gets in the way, Aus 7 and I are finally starting to find the groove. Still have a long way to go though. As for regattas, I will be at Jindabyne 5-7 Mar, and then Lake Walagoot the following weekend, that may be a little far for you....

Re: 2014 AUS Canoe Action.

I have been sailing most Saturdays and Tuesdays so far, and have even managed to complete enough races (usually last) that the club has even worked out my personal handicap... So the IC rates at 93.5, I think that is the fastest monohull at the club. My personal handicap is 147.5. :-) so apparently ...

2014 AUS Canoe Action.

Ok Gentlemen, time to get serious about this, who is doing what with their canoes in 2014/2015? Spring is upon us, and though the nights are still cold, the days are getting nice here in sunny Canberra. Despite the fact that LBG is terrible, the Y is starting up this weekend, so I am there. Initiall...

Re: Anzac Regatta Batemans Bay

Not sure what everyone else is doing accommodation wise, I have booked in at the big 4. Planning on glamping (got a campsite with an ensuite) to keep the costs down. The big 4 is very close to the sailing club. The site is big enough for another tent if anyone is interested, but not for more cars......

Re: Imagine my surprise... An IC in my work carpark...

Yesterday's Twilight Race went well, new forestay worked, new mainsheet at 4:1 is a treat, way better than 3:1, much easier to coordinate everything when I don't have to hang on so hard, just need to sort out the exact mounting of the pulleys etc. Managed to get around the course ok, even pulled off...

Re: Imagine my surprise... An IC in my work carpark...

More learning today... Back on the lake after work for the Tuesday night twilight session. Mostly kids in pacer's and Bics, and a Laser Radial. And me zooming around on the Log. 5-10 southerly knots to start with, quite shifty but managing ok... Then a buster! 24 knot easterly according to the cyc w...

Re: Imagine my surprise... An IC in my work carpark...

Cheers Jim, I will give it a try. I don't think I had much kicker on yesterday, most of the capsizes weren't because of being over powered, rather technique an reaction to shifts, but keep the tips coming as I have very little experience with this sort of rig!

Re: Imagine my surprise... An IC in my work carpark...

2nd attempt at a sailing day at YMCA Lake Burley Griffin. 0-15 knots and everything in between, coming from every direction and. Going from dead calm to sudden gusts. So... I scored two DNF's... The Laser Radial and an Access Dinghy Beat me! This lake proves very tricky... But, I will keep trying, t...

Re: Imagine my surprise... An IC in my work carpark...

So I am now settled in the Canberra area for at least 2 years (hopefully) with AUS 21, Hollow Log. The Log and I have joined up at YMCA sailing club that sails here on Lake Burley Griffin. It isn't the best place to sail an IC, small, gusty, gusty, light winds etc etc, but it is close to where I liv...
