Re: Life After IC Sailing
All sound advice! My son and his wife told us that before the twins arrived they did not mind if they had boys or girls (and they deliberately avoided being told in advance) but, after the boys arrived they were very pleased as it is far less likely they will want to go for horses! Cheers Colin

Life After IC Sailing
In August last year after selling my new rules IC, I posted a 'goodbye and thank you' post to everyone in the class. Many thanks to those who responded with kind comments either on this forum or by individual e-mail. In the belief that old friends just might be interested in one old man's experience...

'Colexit' It is time to say goodbye.
As many in the fleet will know Barbara and I became grandparents for the first time on April 5 last year when our daughter-in-law, Helen gave birth to twin boys. It first started as almost a joke, but each time we visited our younger son, Tim, his wife and the twins in Eldwick near Bingley, they kep...

Re: Promotion of class (Ladies / Youths)
We have had women in the IC fleet in the past and in Germany a woman was national champion about ten years ago. As a 'well nourished pensioner' I am now about 70kg, but in my prime, aged about 54, I was 65Kg and briefly only 60 Kg. In racing terms in various IC ODs I tended to do better in the force...

Re: GBR 295 Extended Play for Sale
GBR 295 is now sold to Mike Shreeve who as you will see from his post is now hoping to sell his older IC OD. I am glad the boat is going to a good home (only about three miles from mine in Hinckley!) For the record, after advertising for free on the Apollo Duck website, I had three serious inquiries...

Re: Missing Archives ?
Thanks Ed for your comments. If only the Sliding Seat Publications after 2008 could be found and uploaded onto the web site as this would contain most of the historical information UK IC sailors might want. I find I have hard copies of all Sliding Seat editions up to 2008 but after this date I recal...

Re: Missing Archives ?
Hi Jim, Thanks for a quick response from both you and Ed. As far as I recall On the International IC site I simply put in 'Europa Cup 2013' in the search box and got back 'nothing found'. As I was looking for the full set of results knowing Paul finished about 8th or 9th, I would not have tried unde...

Missing Archives ?
Where have all the archives gone that used to be on the web site? I can find back copies of 'Sliding Seat' only from 2008 and earlier, nothing since then. The archived results section is also very incomplete with almost a random choice of past events, some opens but not all past Nationals and Intern...

GBR 295 Extended Play for Sale
Nethercott IC GBR 295, 'Extended Play' is for sale. Ever since getting my new rules Dragonfly design IC in 2013 I kept 'Extended Play' just in case I wanted a more docile IC to sail some time in the future. Having lent the boat to an Australia to sail in the Worlds at Pwllheli, cleaned it and replac...

Thursday, a day for breakages
Thursday 24 August during the World Championships was a day for breakages, the Chris Maas sliding seat, the seat carriage on 'Fusion' and my wife's ball at the end of her humorous bone in her left shoulder, broken in three! Commiserations to Chris Maas for losing his bid for first place as a result....

Re: WORLDS WEBSITE 2017
Having registered my 'intention to sail', I checked the web site for information about staying in my VW campervan at the sailing venue during the World championship. I could find nothing about motorhomes on the Pwellheli Sailing Club website, but eventually found the information I needed by going to...

Re: Rudder Problems
Colin, Wales is no longer dry on a Sunday. Pubs have been open on Sundays for many years since the 'dry' period. When in doubt as a teetotaler (me)! After sailing I am always suprised nobody asks me if I have a comb they can borrow. I thought it was common knowledge that bald me always keep a comb i...

Re: Proposed Rule Changes - Ballot
Thanks Perham for re-directing my query from the general UK forum to this thread under 'developments'. Like others I have two dagger boards that are not identical but both fit my new rules boat GBR 326. The older one, a spare from a previous boat, but still made by Bloodaxe Foils, is slightly larger...

Proposed New Rules
Having read the proposed new rules sent by e-mail today I agree they are all worthy of support though I have one query. I assume the new wording 'only one centreboard is allowed' would not prevent a competitor using a spare, similar dagger board after a breakage in a regatta? Any comments from those...

When was Peter ever 'out of action'? He seems indestructible, now in his ninth decade of life!
